Wonderbox at a glance
Wonderbox is a French company in the leisure and gift experience sector, operating in 8 countries with 450 employees. Beyond the gift boxes that built its reputation, the group now also covers gift cards, ticketing and theme parks.
An HR strategy built on three pillars
Wonderbox’s HR strategy rests on three pillars: supporting the group and its employees, simplifying processes, and energizing teams by retaining talent and improving employee experience. Within this framework, the company chose to partner with Zest to set up a structured listening strategy.
« We run three surveys a year because our year at Wonderbox is divided into three key periods, which we call QMs. Each survey includes recurring questions that we analyze every time to track how these indicators evolve. It also includes one-off questions to assess the key moments of the period. »
Angèle Naïk Talent & HR Development Manager, Wonderbox
This regular cadence lets Wonderbox track its indicators over time while capturing the topics specific to each period of the year.
Zest, a complement to hands-on management
For Émile, Head of Digital at the group, Zest plays a role distinct from that of managers in the teams’ daily work:
« Zest is highly complementary to what we do every day with all our managers. It brings feedback on a different timescale from our weekly rhythm. We get a clear view of what employees want to tell us after four months. It doesn’t replace the day-to-day. It strongly complements it. »
Émile Doumenc, Head of Digital, Wonderbox
A first survey with striking results
In its first survey with Zest, Wonderbox recorded a participation rate above 90% and collected more than 1,400 comments. This is a strong signal of team engagement. Response anonymity was identified as a key driver of this candor, along with the support provided by the Zest team during the transition from the previous tool.
Giving the whole team a voice, not just managers
« I think the benefits of Zest depend heavily on the teams and managers. From my perspective, its greatest strength is the ability to collect feedback and opinions from across the entire team, not only through managers. This lets us revisit topics that go unspoken or are poorly handled, and bring energy and dialogue back into the teams’ daily work. »
Émile Doumenc, Head of Digital, Wonderbox
Leadership fully committed to listening
At Wonderbox, CEO Fabrice Lépine personally reads every comment from the surveys. During the last campaign, these comments revealed that employees had not fully understood the objectives of the group’s strategy. Fabrice then took the time to hold debrief sessions with every team, in France and abroad. Each session lasted about an hour and served to explain the objectives again and rally employees around a shared vision.
« I think Zest helped amplify feedback from every team, whatever their level in the Wonderbox hierarchy. Fabrice took the time to be educational, to explain things again and to listen. It had a real impact, and the teams appreciated it. »
Émile Doumenc, Head of Digital, Wonderbox
This level of involvement opened up new ways to re-engage teams around the group’s strategy.
« Essential and complementary. For us, knowing what employees think, giving them a space where they can speak freely and listening to them is vital. »
Angèle Naïk, Talent & HR Development Manager, Wonderbox
